Tastes Great But Made Me Scream In Frustration
Summary
Angry At The Cooking Process
This meal made me mad. I screamed and fussed at these Swedish Meatloaves and was just about ready to throw the pots and pans and food right at the wall. Ok, maybe I didn’t scream…too loud…but I sure hated the cooking process. It was difficult and I can’t even clearly explain why. Too much stuff, too much going on at one time, too much effort, too much *something*. Plus, the dang carrots got burned to a crisp. Gah!
Angry At The Great Taste
By the time I plated the meal, I was almost too angry to even bother to eat it. And THEN… the dang thing tasted great, and that almost made me even angrier. I expected it to be lousy, which would justify my never wanting to make it again. But unfortunately, I have to be satisfied with never wanting to make it again, even though was pretty much delicious.
Oh That Gravy…
The gravy was amazing. Oh my goodness, the “swedish-ness” of it, which I guess is really just the nutmeg that enhances the normal flavors of a good, homemade gravy, just burst with a sensational taste.
What A Waste
Of course, we were only able to eat about 5 tiny pieces of carrots, so all my effort to chop them up was a waste, but the overall flavor, with or without the carrots, was somewhere between great and awesome. It's just difficult for me to even admit that because I didn't want it to be good.
Mixed Feelings
Anyway, boo for the process, yay for the end result, I guess.
Wait, Jelly?
Oh wait, one more thing. For some odd reason, this meal kit also included a little jar of jelly to be added on the side. That was weird. Tasted good mixed in with the meatloaf flavor, actually, but it seemed out of place. Still, it worked.

Tip
Glance through the recipe instructions before you begin. Some recipes ask you to chop veggies in the middle of the process, usually while something else is cooking on the stove. I recommend ignoring those instructions. Instead, prep all your veggies before you do anything else. (You can preheat your oven during this time). If you are anything like me, trying to chop vegetables while watching over the cooking process will usually end up with overcooked or burned food, or even knicked fingers.
