I understand your feelings because I went through sexual trauma and it never seems to be totally gone. “Sing to keep from crying” is a good prompter toward healing – music itself can bring healing, singing can help emotional baggage to lessen its hold on my heart, singing can allow me to express inexpressible grief, and singing can slowly raise me up to a more positive state of mind. The painting is a reminder of one way to access healing – sing the blues and cry until the dumping of your soul leads you to sing and whisper “thank you” for all those artists who help us see a way. Sing until the slightest hint of a “real” smile from the heart shows on a face needing to remember the joy of a moment of music that speaks of another sharing a journey from darkness to light–and that brings hope of healing to a wounded heart!
