Today’s Bloganuary prompt is:

What is your preferred mode of travel?

This one’s pretty easy. Gail is in a wheelchair. I have limited mobility. That makes many forms of travel difficult. I can’t even imagine trying to deal with the hassle of Gail getting on and off of a plane. Maybe a train would be more feasible, but I’m not sure. I might check into that soon.

Currently, we have a nice big pickup truck with an arm installed in the bed of the truck to lift her wheelchair in and out. That’s really the only option we have right now.

Ideally, eventually, it would be nice to have a mobility van or a camper van that is wheelchair accessible. Even cooler would be a vehicle that Gail could just drive her chair right up to the steering wheel. If the van had some sort of camper accessories – a bed and toilet – that would be perfection. Then we could actually go on trips! And even bring the dogs with us! How fantastic that would be! Maybe one day we’ll make that happen.

Until then, our Dodge Ram with its wheelchair lift works pretty well.

UPDATE: About a week later, we actually did it. We traded the truck for a wheelchair van. How ’bout that?
